It Begins With You

A Path to Interior Freedom

Love Your Neighbor As Yourself

One verse. Two halves that depend on each other.

You have loved your neighbor faithfully for a long time. The half of the verse this experience tends is the inward one: the half that invites you to meet yourself and your own parts with the same tenderness you have been offering everyone else.

Not as an alternative to loving your neighbor, but as the ground from which that love can flow more freely, more present, more truly yours.

It Begins With You: A Path to Interior Freedom is a ten-hour held experience for tending that ground.

Two Fridays · July 17 + July 31 · 10 AM – 5 PM ET · Online · Led by Marion + Jody

Early Bird — Sign up by June 15 and your registration includes 3 months of Embodied Catholic Circles — our community for personal IFS work.

$350 (or $280 with the student rate)

Both Fridays included. Limited spots so we can hold space well.

This isn't for a job title. It's for an experience.

If your day ends with everyone having needed a piece of you…

If you're the one your spouse leans on, your children orbit around, your parishioners call, your clients trust, your students rely on, your community turns to…

If holding space for others is something you do — whether or not helper is in your job title…

This is for you.

This experience is for priests, religious sisters and brothers, deacons, parish staff, DREs and youth ministers, teachers, therapists, coaches, spiritual directors, nurses and chaplains, ministry leaders, parents, spouses, caregivers of aging parents — and anyone else whose vocation or work asks them to hold space for others.

You give love. You give attention. You give presence.

You do it daily, often well, often beautifully.

And yet there are moments when your love comes out tighter than you wished. When you hear yourself respond from somewhere that is not quite you. When you put your children to bed and realize you were not quite there with them. When a parishioner shares something hard and a part of you is already five steps ahead.

It is not that you have stopped loving. It is that the love is traveling further to reach the surface, because the inward ground has been giving without being given to.

Love your neighbor as yourself is one whole instruction. When the as yourself half thins out, the love your neighbor half thins with it. They are not separate movements. They are one movement, in two directions.

This experience attends to the inward direction. To the parts of you that have been quietly carrying the weight, often without being met or named. So that the love you have been pouring outward can come from a more present, more rested, more self-led ground.

THIS IS BEYOND EDUCATION

This is not a course.

It's not a training.

It's not a certification.

It's not another modality to add to your toolbox.

This is something your inner system needs — to feel whole, to feel taken care of, to stop being the one always holding and never held.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is the framework we use. But the work isn't theoretical. Inside the 10 hours, Marion and Jody hold space for you the way you've been holding space for everyone else. Teaching, yes — but woven through with live parts work where you experience what you're learning. With others doing it alongside you. With your inner system finally on the receiving end.

Two Fridays. Two retreat days. One held experience.

Two weeks between them, so what you receive on Day 1 has room to settle before Day 2 deepens it.

Day 1 — Friday, July 17 · 10 AM – 5 PM ET

A grounding in the heart of IFS — not as theory, but as a way of meeting your own parts as we go. The truth that you are not your parts, and that beneath the noise lives a self who can lead from within.

We'll spend time with:

  • The three familiar kinds of parts — Managers, Firefighters, and Exiles — and the protective wisdom each one carries

  • The U-Turn — the gentle movement of turning toward your own activated parts in the middle of caring for someone else

  • Externalizing parts through mapping, journaling, or creative practice, letting what is inside take a form you can meet with curiosity

  • The difference between speaking for a part and speaking from a part — and what that shift opens up

  • Live held practice with Marion and Jody

You'll leave Day 1 with tools for 10-minute self-led IFS pockets you can use immediately — in the car, at the kitchen sink, before a hard conversation.

The Two Weeks Between

This is part of the work. Daily life is where the inner system reveals itself — and where you'll begin to notice the inner polarizations that keep you stuck, and hear what those tensions are quietly asking for. You'll bring what you notice back to Day 2.

Day 2 — Friday, July 31 · 10 AM – 5 PM ET

Deeper. We move into:

  • The inner polarizations themselves — the parts in tension, and what they need from you

  • The 8 C's and 5 P's of self-energy — not as techniques to perform, but as a way of being present

  • self-compassion and interior caregiving as steady practices, especially when your life or work asks much of you

  • How religious and spiritual parts move within the inner system, particularly within Catholic interior life — learning to honor them without bypassing them

  • Self-leadership in the friction of ordinary life — the conversation that lands wrong, the prayer that feels dry, the moment a child needs you when you have nothing left

By the end of Day 2, what was on the page on Day 1 is something you've lived. You leave with tools, yes — and with the felt experience of having been held while using them.

Your Investment

$350 — both Fridays, ten hours, held.

The price doesn't change. What changes is when the holding starts — and how much of Marion you get.

Early Bird Special — register by June 15

Same $350. Begin being held the moment you register.

When you sign up by June 15, your registration includes 3 full months of Embodied Catholic Circles — the community where this work continues between the retreat days, and long after.

Your three months include:

  • Three live group parts check-ins with Marion. Held the first Wednesday of every month in a group setting. Direct, ongoing access to the same IFS Clinical Supervisor leading the retreat.

  • A community-held runway into Day 1. Embodied Catholic Community's June arc is The Self-Led Heart, anchored in the Sacred Heart of Jesus as the icon of Self-leadership. Register early and you walk into July 17th already softened, already moving, already part of a community doing this work alongside you.

  • The integration arc after the retreat. ECC's July arc is Self in Ordinary Time — built around the same question the retreat is designed to land in: what does this look like in dailiness?

  • Three Short weekly IFS reflections. Brief teachings, prompts, and somatic invitations sized for ordinary life.

  • The Foundations Library. Ten pinned IFS teachings to read at your own pace before the retreat begins.

  • Sign up and receive the link to join the community with your receipt. No waiting!

Regular — June 16 through July 17

Same $350. The two retreat days — without the community arc that comes before, the live Marion access between, or the integration arc after.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. This isn't an intro. Go as deep as you're ready to go. The held space meets you wherever you are, including deepening an existing practice. Some who come have years of IFS experience and still find that being on the receiving end of someone else holding space changes things.

  • Not at all. You don't need to use IFS professionally to benefit. The U-Turn and self-energy show up everywhere — at the dinner table, in prayer, in caregiving, in difficult conversations. You don't need a license, certification, or job title.

  • That's exactly the problem this is for. The work itself is about creating capacity, not consuming it. We chose two Fridays so you don't have to give up weekends with your family.

  • The verse is love your neighbor as yourself, not love your neighbor instead of yourself. The two halves hold each other up. When the inward half thins, the outward half thins with it.

This experience is not an alternative to loving others. It is care for the well that your love of neighbor has been drawing from for years. Tending that well is not selfish. It is part of how the whole verse comes true in you.

  • Yes. This is for anyone whose vocation or work asks them to pour themselves out. Parents, spouses, caregivers, teachers, parish staff — anyone holding space for others. Christina, who's part of running this experience, would tell you herself: she isn't in a formal helping profession anymore, and the work has been transformative for her as a wife and mother.

  • Both days are part of the same arc. We encourage you to register only if you can attend both. If something urgent comes up, reach out and we'll work with you.

  • Yes. Both days will be recorded, and you'll have access to the replays after the experience for review and integration on your own time. The live experience is what we encourage you to fully show up for — because that's where the space is held — but the recordings are there if life happens, or if you want to return to a moment that landed deeply.

  • If you're a mother superior or community leader wondering about a partnership rate for your sisters, please reach out directly. We have a private partnership rate available by invitation.

Meet Your Guides

Marion Bean Moreland

Marion Bean Moreland is a clinical therapist and IFS Clinical Supervisor with decades of experience walking alongside people doing the deep work of meeting their own parts. Her practice integrates Internal Family Systems with Catholic interior life — not by translating one into the other, but by listening to how the inner system speaks within both. A doctoral student and third-order Trinitarian, Marion is the kind of clinician who holds space for the helper as much as for the helped. She founded Trinitas as an answer to something she kept seeing in her own clients and supervisees: that the people who carry others are often the ones with nowhere to be carried themselves. It Begins With You is the experience she'd long wished existed.

Jody Garneau

Jody Garneau is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (BCACC) with a Master's in Clinical Counselling from Divine Mercy University. She is IFS Level 3 certified and trained in IFIO (Intimacy from the Inside Out) for couples and families, EMDR, and Flash for trauma work. Her undergraduate studies in philosophy, metaphysics, and theology at a Great Books college in California quietly underpin the way she holds the psychological and the spiritual together. Before her clinical training, Jody spent 25 years raising and homeschooling her four children — a vocation she carries alongside the helping professions she serves. From British Columbia, she offers IFS coaching to people around the world, with a particular care for homeschoolers, couples, parents, and those walking through trauma, loss, and grief. She co-hosts It Begins With You because she has lived both sides of what it asks: the long pouring out, and the deep need to be met.

Together, Marion and Jody bring complementary lenses and a shared commitment to one thing: holding space for the people who hold space for everyone else.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

Two halves. One love. Both tended here.

Two Fridays. Ten hours. The work is for you.
